Cardinal Scale manufactures several diagnostic tools for our authorized scale dealer technicians to assess and diagnose their customer's scales during service calls. Cardinal Scale’s SmartCan diagnostic tool is an analog-to-digital load cell junction box for new or pre-existing truck scales, railroad scales, floor scales, and batching systems. SmartCan provides real-time diagnostics and identifies load cell problems before they cause inaccurate weighing, so scale downtime is minimized. Additionally, Cardinal Scale's iSite cloud-based software provides remote monitoring for the SmartCan system and sends e-mail and/or text alerts, so scale diagnostics can be assessed from any location. iSite is a particularly potent tool when coupled with ARMOR truck scales, since dealers can view truck scale issues from a PC, phone, or tablet. The NEST diagnostic toolkit provides fast, accurate, and ultra-portable truck scale diagnostics for truck scale dealers. The NEST can expediently view individual load cell readings and check the home run cable and load cell cable connections.

SmartCan Digital Conversion System

You can now digitize any existing analog scale using Cardinal Scale’s SmartCan analog-to-digital conversion system. SmartCan allows users to digitally monitor each individual load cell and identify cell failures quickly and effectively. The SmartCan system utilizes the advanced, internationally-standardized CAN (Controller Area Network) serial bus system to digitize the analog output signals from two or more independent load cells and send the data to the indicator. SmartCan may be used in a variety of different applications with new and existing truck scales, railroad scales, floor scales, bench scales, and batching systems. SmartCan is housed in a compact, rugged weatherproof IP66 / NEMA 4 enclosure and doesn’t require cumbersome external power supplies, in most applications.

DC Series SmartCell Digital

Cardinal Scale’s DC series SmartCell® stainless steel compression digital load cells daisy-chain together for ease of wiring and the cables connect automatically to the load cell. Internal load cell circuitry eliminates the need for a junction box. The OIML-certified DC series come in either 22,700 kg / 50,000 lb or 45,000 kg / 100,000 lb capacities and they include iSite remote diagnostic monitoring software with automatic text/e-mail alerts. The DC series feature SmartCal for easy calibration, anti-rotation, and extra robust upper and lower cups. The stainless steel IP69K-rated DC series may be interchangeable with Cardinal Scale’s SCA load cells for complete digital conversions on vehicle scales and tank/hopper scales. Sense leads are no longer required like in analog load cells since variations in systems voltage no longer affect the load cell.

225 Navigator

The 225 Navigator weight indicator’s transflective display technology allows the 240 x 64-pixel (5-inch/127 mm W x 1.33-inch/34 mm H) back-lit LCD with 1-inch high characters to be viewed under any lighting conditions from direct sunlight to total darkness. With an optional dual scale input board, up to 3 scales with total weights can be viewed simultaneously. Standard features include IP66 washdown stainless steel enclosure, 4 bi-directional RS232 serial ports, USB-B port, QWERTY keypad, 4 soft keys, 13 function keys, navigation keys, 16 Preset Weight Comparators (PWCs), 8 input control lines, 16 output control lines, piece count, batching, electronic tally roll, and 200 ID database for truck storage. NTEP legal-for-trade and OIML certified. Supports up to 14 350-ohm load cells.

NEST - Network Enabled Scale Tool

Cardinal Scale’s NEST provides fast, accurate, and ultra-portable truck scale diagnostics. Quickly view individual load cell readings and check the home run and weight indicator connections. NEST plugs directly into the trim board of a Cardinal truck scale universal section seal trim box and displays millivolts and pounds readings for up to 12 load cells and the reading from the junction box summing circuitry. Unique to the weighing industry, NEST provides a service technician the toolkit to see where a scale’s potential issues may exist within seconds. There are three display modes: signals display, minimum-maximum display, and signals minus zero.
