Cardinal Scale wishes to recognize the valuable contributions and service to the company performed by Juanita Kaufman, Electronics Department Quality Assurance Inspector. Juanita started her career with Cardinal Scale in August 1985 and she has spent her entire tenure in the Electronics Department.
The Electronics Department produces and assembles components and finished goods such as circuit boards, weight indicators, remote displays, junction boxes, and summing boxes that are used on many Cardinal/Detecto products. The Electronics Department also builds smaller-size electronic scales such as portion scales, retail POS scales, and patient lift scales. The department manufactures the company’s circuit boards, solders and completes wiring, combines completed assemblies and kits, and yields completed products that are ready for use as finished goods.
Juanita’s duties consist of inspecting circuit boards, SMT parts, and kits that are used in completed modules. She inspects all of the aforementioned parts for various faults such as solder shorts, insufficient soldering, incorrect part installation, and incorrect part positioning, so that they can be corrected and sent out in ideal condition for proper working order. Possessing a sharp eye for these details keeps indicators and junction boxes working correctly and customers happy.
“I really enjoy finding errors in the circuit boards, so that we can correct them. Since we have such a steady supply of boards throughout the day, I am always busy, and that makes for an involved and quick day,” states Juanita. Juanita feels that one of the most challenging aspects of her job, but the most rewarding, is completing the calibration process on gauging equipment. “The most enjoyable part of my day is calibrating gauging equipment. It can be complicated sometimes, but it’s necessary to keep things running smoothly.”
“I’ve worked with Juanita for many years. Her work ethic is second-to-none and she is extremely dependable. She seems to always have the company’s best interest at heart. What I love most about her is not only her kindness towards everyone, but her willingness to help anyone at a moment’s notice,” states Chad Perry, Electronics Supervisor. In her free time, Juanita enjoys the company of her daughter, Patty, and her three grandchildren, Autumn, Grayson, and Ryleigh. Fortunately, Juanita’s family lives close and she gets to see them regularly.
