Cardinal’s SWIM In-Motion Scale Makes Light Work of Heavy Harvest Traffic

Weighing bulk agricultural products coming in from the field or out to the local co-op can be difficult to track for the purposes of inventory management, or maximizing product loading efficiency to avoid overweight fines on public roads, and even tracking crop production totals for crop insurance. Moisture content, crop type, and varying trailer sizes often leave farmers having to estimate loads based on educated guesses, leaving room for errors; however, taking each truck to an off-site truck scale for an accurate weight isn’t practical many times.

ID storage software was added to allow the user to enter Truck, Field, Product, and Barn information as well as the ability to automatically calculate gross/tare/net weights and generate reports. Cardinal Scale connected all the functionality of the 825 indicator with the RemoteWeigh mobile app for the customer’s smart phone, so that everything can be viewed and controlled from the owner’s phone whether he’s onsite or on vacation.

Not only is the customer pleased with the results, this SWIM truck scale is the closest scale for 20 miles in any direction, so his friends and neighbors are enjoying the benefits, too. The owner reports that often he will get a call from a neighbor who will ask to drive across the scale. The owner will simply open the app on his phone and watch their axle and gross weights appear. Then, he can let his friend know their weights or even take a screenshot and text it to them. There’s no need for anyone to get out of their truck or even stop with Cardinal Scale’s SWIM in-motion scale.
